Founded in 2008 by the Italian/German duo Paola Vella and Ellen Bernhardt, Bernhardt&Vella handles product design, site-specific staging and art direction, collaborating with prestigious décor firms in Italy and abroad.
The studio’s stylistic signature is a delicate, feminine yet highly identifiable and identitary aesthetic. A perfect balance of simplicity and eclecticism is created through a play of contrasts among forms, details and materials, with subdued color palettes and exclusive materials. Every project begins with a maieutic research process, a gathering of ideas from various sources of inspiration: the two designers reimagine masterworks of art, design and architecture in their uniquely refined style, with discreet, contemporary elegance.
