Dilmos

Founded in the heart of Brera, Milan, in 1980, Dilmos was conceived as an exhibition space and a point of reference for contemporary design. From its earliest years, the gallery has selected and commissioned highly charismatic objects from Italian and international creatives, alongside furniture and accessories by companies that share with Dilmos a bold and radical vision of design.
Located on Via San Marco 1, the gallery today expresses its identity through three distinct yet complementary dimensions, balanced between research, experimentation, and dialogue. Dilmos Edition commissions and entrusts both emerging and established authors with the creation of experimental pieces, produced in limited editions or small series. Alongside it, Dilmos Selection presents projects chosen among designers whose sensibility and poetic vision resonate with that of the gallery. Completing this ecosystem, the Partners section includes a curated proposal of furnishings by outstanding Italian and international brands and manufacturers, with whom Dilmos maintains an ongoing dialogue — some relationships dating back to the 1980s. Designers and companies share with Dilmos the same design sensibility and the pursuit of a distinctive expression that transcends function. Here, objects are never neutral or silent; they are active presences, capable of sparking reflection and interaction.
Since 2020, Beatrice Pellegatta has served as Artistic Director, inaugurating a new phase of renewal and international openness, while maintaining continuity with the experimental vocation that has always defined the gallery. Under her direction, Dilmos has strengthened its role as a place of research and exchange, enhancing both historical collaborations and the most contemporary forms of experimentation. For over forty years, Dilmos has been an active part of the cultural life of design through exhibitions, events, and collaborations — from the iconic 1988 exhibition Differenze to its constant presence during Milan Design Week, as well as participation in international fairs such as Design Miami, Design Basel Miami, and Miart. The gallery continues to champion a narrative form of design, in which each object becomes an experience, a story, and an act of vision.
Dilmos embraces authorship, experimentation, and individual poetics. Every object selected or commissioned by the gallery is born from a strong vision and a deep reflection on the value of form and material — where craftsmanship serves as a means to restore design to its most authentic dimension: that of a sensitive, tactile, and concrete everyday experience. Alongside the great masters of Italian design — from Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi, and Alessandro Mendini to Ron Arad, Nendo, and Studio Job — Dilmos today collaborates with a new generation of designers, including Alessandra Baldereschi, Alex Pinna, Atelier Ferraro, Daniele Papuli, Monica Taverniti, and Umberto Dattola, confirming the gallery’s role as an open laboratory in continuous dialogue with the most radical and visionary research.

Mimesis
Milano Design Week 2026

Suspended between observation and suggestion, Mimesis comes to life. The exhibition curated by Dilmos and presented during Milano Design Week 2026 at the historic gallery on Via San Marco 1, in the heart of Brera, features the works of Dutch designer Onno Adriaanse, based in Eindhoven, and Italian artist Valeria Vaccaro, based in Turin, displayed within a setup designed by Verderame. Invited by the gallery to engage with the exhibition’s theme of mimesis, Adriaanse and Vaccaro draw from their own distinctive languages to develop, in dialogue with Dilmos, two original collections in which objects adopt the behaviors of nature as a generative principle.
